Residencies

GlazenHuis organises annual residencies (AiR - Artists in Residence) for international glass artists. Our aim is to encourage artistic encounters and promote cultural exchanges between artists from all over the world. Instead of focussing on producing new work, the residencies emphasise knowledge development through extensive guidance and facilitation for the artists.

International artists are invited to submit their candidacies and work via an open call, leaving GlazenHuis the difficult job of picking only two or three from the applications received. During their residency, the artists have access to the studio facilities to try out new techniques and do research. In return, they donate one of their creations to the city of Lommel's urban glass art collection.

GlazenHuis's residency programme has a global reputation, having welcomed artists from Australia, America and Japan, among others.

This year we were not able to place an international call due to the Corona situation. Instead, our own team and freelancers were given the opportunity to use the summer residencies, an opportunity they relished. Behold our marvellous home-grown talent in the exhibition The Residents.
