Since 2013, GlazenHuis has successfully built an international residency program. Here, renowned international glass artists are invited annually to work in the hotshop for a period of time. With this program, GlazenHuis aims to encourage artistic collaborations and promote cultural exchanges between artists. The emphasis here is on knowledge development through extensive guidance and facilitation of the artists.
International artists are invited to submit their candidacies and work via an open call, leaving GlazenHuis the difficult job of picking only two or three from the applications received. During their residency, the artists have access to the studio facilities to try out new techniques and do research. In return, they donate one of their creations to the city of Lommel's urban glass art collection and they create some artworks to offer for sale in the gallery.
