At the end of August, the Lommel LEGO® masters Roy and Thomas will once again bring out the bricks and build the Glass House. The duo won the final of the well-known tv show in May and is now taking on the challenge in their own city. If you want to see them at work during the weekend from 27 to 29 August, you can visit the tourist information office of Tourism Lommel.

As usual, GlazenHuis closes the summer holiday with Glass Beach: a pop-up sandy beach on the glass ovens where you can glaze your hand or footprint coronaproof. This year’s guests of honor are the winners of the well-known TV program LEGO® Masters, Roy Franssen and Thomas Goelen. They drew up a design especially for GlazenHuis with which they will immortalize the glass museum in cubes. “We like and regularly recreate a building with which we have a personal relationship. The fame and special architecture of GlazenHuis also provide an extra challenge,” says Thomas, who has always lived in Lommel. “From an aesthetic point of view, Roy even explored options to use real glass as well.”

“We always join forces with local and international talent for our exhibitions,” explains Jeroen Maes, artistic director of GlazenHuis. “We could certainly not let the victory of the Lommel brickmasters pass unnoticed. The construction of GlazenHuis in LEGO® bricks is not only nice exposure for the gentlemen and the museum, but also a cool, corona-proof family activity at the end of the summer.” GlazenHuis also launches ‘The LEGO® Mystery’: a quest (only in Dutch) in and around the glass museum where you look for a thief who stole one of the wonderful glass shoes from the Shoerealism exhibition. Whoever collects all the clues and unmasks the thief will receive a bag of LEGO® bricks as a reward with which you can put together a trendy sneaker or elegant slipper. “The imaginative exhibition ‘Shoerealism’ invited us to design two exclusive shoes in LEGO®,” says Roy. “A nice addition to the child-friendly range of GlazenHuis!”

Thomas and Roy will start building on Friday 27 August and hope to confirm the last brick on Sunday 29 August. The construction takes place in the tourist information office of Tourism Lommel. Afterwards, the LEGO® Glass House will be moved to the museum where it will be on permanent display. If you want to encourage the Lommel LEGO® Masters, you can support during the opening hours of Tourism Lommel: on Friday continuously from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and during the weekend continuously from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you want to get hold of the treasure hunt ‘The LEGO® Mystery’, you can do so in the Glass Shop. A package (only in Dutch) costs €18, including a museum visit for two people.
